Daugavpils City Municipality Institution Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre

One of 21st century’s most ambitious cultural projects in Eastern Europe, DAUGAVPILS MARK ROTHKO ART CENTRE, is a multifunctional hub for contemporary art, culture and education. Located in the historic artillery arsenal building of Daugavpils Fortress, it offers more than 2500 square metres of space for permanent and temporary displays. The centre hosts international symposia for artists, creative workshops and master classes as well as art education programmes for children and youth. It offers accommodation, seminar and conference rooms, and a chamber hall with a grand piano. A souvenir shop and Arsenal Café are also located on the premises.
The centre continues to develop. Restoration works have been undertaken to create a Memorial House for Pēteris Martinsons. Once they are completed in 2021, a permanent exhibition will be located there as a tribute to the artist.
