8TH INTERNATIONAL LATGALE GRAPHIC ART SYMPOSIUM

May 5 – 19, 2019, Daugavpils, Latvia

Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre and the Art Teachers’ Union invite artists to participate in the 8th International Latgale Graphic Art Symposium organized in the framework of Rothko Centre’s Residence Program.

The Graphic Art Symposium is a meeting, discussion and creative work within the cultural space of Latgale, which unites similarly and differently thinking and working graphic artists from Latvia and abroad.

Aim of the Symposium: To create unique contemporary graphic artworks, developing an international communication platform in the field of graphic art.

Place and time of the symposium: Daugavpils, Latvia, May 5 – 19, 2019

Participants of the symposium: 10 professional artists will take part in the symposium. The selection of participants will be competition-based, taking into consideration the submitted materials (application form, CV, and visual information which meets the below mentioned requirements).

Selection committee of the symposium participants:

  • Valentīns Petjko – artist, art theorist, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre
  • Ieva Nagliņa – artist, president of CHAMBER OF GRAPHIC ART
  • Inga Heamegi – artist (Estonia)
  • Alberto Balletti – artist, professor (Italy)
  • Vaidotas Janulis – artist, professor (Lithuania)
  • Miloš Đorđević – artist (Serbia)

 Organizers provide:

  1. Covering of the residence expenses in Daugavpils (catering, accommodation);
  2. Studios (several artists may work in one studio);
  3. Basic materials and tools for work;
  4. Publicity opportunities (possibilities to present artists’ creative works; information in mass media; publishing a symposium catalogue);
  5. Recreation (tours around the city and surroundings, visits of art and culture institutions of Daugavpils);
  6. Final symposium exhibition (opening on May 18, 2019).

Artists provide:

  1. Covering of the travel expenses to Daugavpils and back;
  2. Specific materials and tools for work;
  3. Donation of at least two artwork created during the symposium to Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

To apply for Symposium, applicant has to complete ONLINE APPLICATION FORM till March 30, 2019. Applications submitted after March 30, 2019 will not be considered.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE:

The Symposium Jury will consider the applications, and selected artists will receive invitations to participate in the Symposium after April 14, 2019. The invited participants should confirm their participation within 5 days after receiving the invitation.
